Do you love books and bookstores? Recently I found a bookstore that you might not know about: Prairie Path Books in Wheaton. Ever since Borders closed, I’ve been looking for bookstores to try, and recently found this one. Prairie Path Books offers a unique and inviting experience. Let me share a little of their background, and some of their upcoming programs with you.

Prairie Path Books opened last summer, when passionate book lovers, Heather, Sandy, and Jenny made it happen. The bookstore is a partnership with Toms-Price Home Furnishings in downtown Wheaton, where the books are tucked in the back of the furniture store. As you can tell from their slogan, “Gatherings and Great Reads”, the store sells books, and features fun events, with welcoming hospitality. Events include:

• Children’s Story Times – complete with cocoa and cookies.
• Cooking Events – The bookstore was converted from a sample apartment, complete with kitchen. I attended a demonstration a cookbook by Martha Stewart featuring comfort foods. The menu included decadent mac ‘n cheese and wicked good bread pudding.
• Book Clubs and Author Events
• Music and Art Events – Love the bracelet that I made
• Historical / Biographical Presentations

Cozy Coffee Cake and Jam – Sandy will host a mini cooking demonstration based on the book Burnt Toast Makes You Sing Good in the Morning. Tuesday, February 17, at 1 pm

Famous First Ladies – In honor of President’s day, Jenny will dramatize, in character, the personal lives of three first ladies. Wednesday, February 18, at 1 pm.

Understanding the Process of Zentangle - If you missed Zentangle at the Warrenville Public library, or attended it and want more, you’ll enjoy making a bookmark using this easy and relaxing art form. All ages will enjoy this event presented by Lucy Dallman on Saturday Feb 21 at 2pm.
