Micah Brown is an American English teacher takes a teaching job in a remote Ghanaian village. There he meets a Tuigi, a 14-year-old girl who is being forced to drop out of school. To atone for her father’s crime, she will become a Trokosi – Wife of the gods, a practice of religious sexual slavery. Locked in a battle between history, church and state, Micah is determined to give Tuigi a life outside tradition.
