Living history actor and scholar Leslie Goddard, PhD., portrays American suffragist Alice Paul. An innovative and tireless worker, Paul arranged organized the first picketing demonstrations outside the White House, lobbied politicians and endured imprisonment for the women’s suffrage. After the ratification of the 19th Amendment, Paul authored the Equal Rights Amendment in 1923, which has yet to be adopted.
This event is part of the monthly Civic Awareness Series, a collaboration between the League of Women Voters of Wheaton and Cantigny Park’s McCormick House. This event is the League of Women Voters 100th Birthday Celebration.
