From 07/31/21 7:30 pm until 07/31/21 9:00 pm

At Cantigny

Categories: Arts

The West Suburban Symphony returns to live performance for the first time since March 1, 2020. The orchestra, led by Maestro Peter Lipari, will perform a 75-minute concert with no intermission.

The concert, titled “Together Again,” presents some of classical music’s most popular, and most emotional, masterpieces. Selections range from the somber, remembering the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, to the celebratory and triumphant.

The program includes Barber’s reflective Adagio for Strings and the soulful Adagietto from Mahler’s fifth symphony, as well as Copland’s gentle Saturday Night Waltz and Hayman’s joyful Pops Hoe Down. The orchestra will also perform Berlioz’s spirited Roman Carnival Overture, Rimsky-Korsakov’s resolute Procession of the Nobles, the majestic final movement of Beethoven’s Symphony 5, and the booming finale of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.

This concert is free with $10 parking per car. Seating is on the lawn throughout the Military Park. We encourage guests to bring their chairs and blankets. This is a rain or shine event.
